It’s here! The Gift of a Long Life: Personal Stories on the Aging Experience is now available on Amazon in both paperback and ebook.
In this collection of heartfelt essays, 53 individuals share their unique perspectives on aging. From the poignant to the humorous, their stories celebrate the gifts that unfold with each passing year.
This is book three of the Birren Center Series, featuring essays from our global GAB community. Book sales support the Birren Center non-profit in their mission to train and support Guided Autobiography teachers in communities around the world.
Board Update
Speaking of the Birren Center, two of our board members were recognized at the International Center for Life Story Innovations and Practice (ICLIP) Conference on March 8th.
Sarah White received the James and Betty Birren Award for Excellence in Practice.
Cheryl Svensson received the John A. Kunz Award for Distinguished Service to the International Center for Life Story Innovations and Practice.
Member Shoutouts
Jerry Waxler published his second memoir, How I learned to Love the World: My Epic Journey from Solving Equations to Healing Hearts Through Writing, Therapy, and Memoirs. Jerry is a regular contributor to the Birren Anthology Series and serves on the advisory board for the National Association of Memoir Writers in addition to his work as a therapist and GAB instructor.
Jess Stainbrook was the keynote speaker at Pfizer’s “Equi-TEA” event last month. Mr. Stainbrook writes and lobbies for legislation for the DIsability ID Symbol and Disability Training for First Responders. His policies have been passed in three states may be coming soon to California.
